The role
Four residents, one house, a consistent team
You will work in a Supported Independent Living home in Werribee with four residents aged 24 to 41. Two have high physical support needs, two are working toward living independently. The roster is built around the house, so you will see the same people every shift and know exactly how each of them likes their day to run.
This is casual work with regular hours — most of our casual staff sit between 25 and 38 hours a week and choose the blocks that suit them. Shifts are published a fortnight ahead.
What the shift looks like
Morning routines — showering, dressing, medication prompting and breakfast with two residents who need full physical assistance.
Manual handling with a ceiling hoist and a standing hoist. Both are in place and serviced; training is provided before your first shift.
Cooking dinner with residents rather than for them, working to the meal plan on the fridge.
Community access — the gym on Tuesdays, the Werribee library on Thursdays, and whatever else the residents have planned.
Progress notes at the end of each shift in our app, on the phone we provide.
What you will bring
Certificate III in Individual Support or Disability, or enrolment underway.
NDIS Worker Screening clearance, or willingness to apply — we reimburse the cost.
Current first aid and CPR, or the willingness to complete it in your first month.
A driver licence, comprehensive insurance and a roadworthy car.
Patience on a bad morning, and the judgement to call the on-call manager when something is not right.
Helpful, not essential
High intensity skills descriptor training — PEG, bowel care, epilepsy or tracheostomy.
Experience with non-verbal communication, AAC devices or Auslan.
A second language, particularly Punjabi, Vietnamese or Arabic.
Positive behaviour support experience with restrictive practice reporting.
I came from aged care where I had eleven people in a morning. Here I have four, and I actually know what they want. That sounds small. It changed the job completely.
